Rehearsals and concerts without chat chaos

A mixed choir rehearses every Wednesday at 7:30 pm in the community hall. Add the Advent concert, summer festival performance, and occasional rehearsal weekends — a full calendar for the conductor and about 35 singers.

The WhatsApp group was long the heart of organisation — and its biggest problem. People sometimes posted absences in the chat, sometimes messaged the conductor privately. Concert dates were debated repeatedly because not everyone had read the messages. Before rehearsal the conductor rarely knew exactly how many voices to expect.

Now the weekly rehearsal stands as a recurring event — Wednesday, 7:30 pm, rehearsal room. The conductor adds concerts and performances as individual events, with address, call time, and the programme in the event description. Everyone sees the same information without anything getting lost in chat.

Before rehearsal the conductor opens the event and immediately sees who's missing. Discussions about costumes, invitations, or rehearsal material happen as comments directly on the event — traceable for anyone joining later. Less chaos, more music.
